The West Ryde Easter Parade & Fair was another roaring success this year. The Committee, chaired by Councillor Artin Etmekdjian, and strongly supported by Ryde Council staff and a large number of dedicated volunteers was blessed with fine weather and a great turnout. This year the Committee got it right and spread activities evenly over Graf Avenue and Market Street. The combination of rides, stalls and displays really contributed to a fantastic feel. Local businesses all professed to have experienced an increase in trade compared to previous Saturdays, but this is not as important as letting people know we are here and open. The local hardware store apparently experienced its best Saturday since before Christmas and Café Neon was on fire.

The talent displayed during the quest was first rate this year and the kiddies that put so much work into their bikes and hats really added to the festival.

My special thanks must go to the secretary of West Ryde Chamber of Commerce, Nora Etmekdjian, who was the driving force behind the event and the reason it was so successful. Thanks must also go to the major sponsors, City of Ryde, Ryde Toyota, The Weekly Times, Cedrus Lebanese Restaurant, Ryde Eastwood Leagues Club and St George Bank.

The next West Ryde Chamber of Commerce After Hours Get Together will be held at the one and only world famous West Ryde Hotel on Wednesday 22 April from 6pm. It is hosted by the West Ryde Easter Parade & Fair Committee to thank volunteers, organisers and sponsors. All members are welcome.
